Well will you look at that!  I've been thinking about starting a blog, and it turns out I already have one!  I haven't posted since 2010.  The mind is a beautiful thing to waste.

I actually did know I had one at one time, but between this, that, and the other (mostly paying jobs and raising children), I let it go and assumed that it had become defunct.  Assuming it was ever "funct." No commenters, no subscribers.  I'd say the reviews are in and it is a bomb.  I can't really blame anyone, since I don't read my own blog, or even remember that it exists.

But I have some time now, having recently decided to become unemployed.  That, coupled with not having to scrounge for food or medical care for my family thanks to the benevolent large corporation that continues to employ my husband.

I'll come out of the closet now.  No, not that closet.  The other closet.  And tell you that all this time, with all my varied and sundry jobs, all I've really been doing is writing (and talking, but talking isn't my best thing).  I write for them in the form of project proposals, project budgets, contracts, carefully worded emails, blogs, websites, etc.

So I am going to tell everyone that I am a writer (actually I'm not going to tell anyone that, because I rarely talk to anyone but my family, and I certainly don't share such personal information as What I Like To Do In My Free Time)!  I've always thought I wasn't, because to quote Danny Devito in Throw Mama From the Train, "...a writer writes, always."  I didn't see my contributions as writing.  Of course they are writing.  Completely unpublishable, but writing nevertheless.

So I'm a writer.  What does that mean?  I have no idea.  But I'm going to clutch at that idea like a drowning person clutches a life preserver.

To that end, I've added a blog I follow to my list.  Janet Reid, Agent.  No, not secret agent.  Literary agent.  Even if you're not a writer or fancy yourself to be a writer, check her out:  Janet Reid, Literary Agent.  She's super funny, as are her cadre of commenters.  She has a grade A recommendation from the worst blogger in the world.  Maybe I should change my blog name to that.
